Nick is a leading strategic communications and government relations advisor who specialises in the energy and resources sector and has worked on many of the sector’s biggest projects. His advice on issues relating to the energy transition is regularly sought after by Australia’s leading energy and resources companies, regulatory agencies and industry bodies. His clients have included APA, AGL, Origin, Alinta, Stanwell Power, Pacific Hydro, Singapore Power, CKI and the German utility giant RWE Renewables. He has also worked with BHP, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, Centennial and Whitehaven and a range of other resource giants. Nick understands the intersection of business and geo-politics, a vital skill at a time of dramatic change for global and domestic energy markets. He recently conducted the first-ever survey of Australian Energy CEOs for the Australian Energy Council that focused on retail affordability issues in the energy transition. The report received prominent media coverage and was widely discussed in the Federal Parliament and succeeded in putting a spotlight on the issues around affordability and the energy transition. Nick’s advice has also been highly sought after on current industry policy issues emerging from the energy transition and has provided advice to a range of strategic industries including Tomago Aluminium and Bluescope Steel on government policy.
Nick has extensive experience in government, having served as a Chief of Staff in the Australian Government in Infrastructure; and in the Victoria Government during a period of energy privatisation and pioneering reforms that established the National Energy Market. He also worked as a senior press advisor in the Queensland Parliament; and had stints as Head of Government Relations at the Property Council working on tax reform; and as an Executive Director of the Linking Melbourne Authority, a major infrastructure agency. Nick began his career in Queensland as a journalist at The Courier Mail.
