Ben is a Partner and Chief Data Scientist at SEC Newgate, advising government and corporate leaders on how to make confident decisions in complex, high‑stakes environments. With more than 15 years’ experience in advanced analytics, experimental design and evidence‑based insight, Ben helps clients cut through uncertainty to understand what truly drives behaviour, risk and outcomes.

A trusted strategic partner, Ben specialises in tackling complex and imperfect data to reveal clear, defensible insights that inform policy, strategy and communications. He has supported organisations including the NSW Department of Education, the Australian Energy Market Commission, Google, Snowy Hydro and Melbourne Water, helping them translate sophisticated analysis into practical recommendations that stand up to scrutiny and enable better decision‑making.

Before joining SEC Newgate, Ben worked across leading Australian research institutions including the University of Melbourne, Monash University and Museum Victoria, delivering ARC‑funded research published in international scientific journals. This academic foundation underpins his rigorous, independent approach and commitment to analytical integrity.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from James Cook University and a PhD in Behavioural Evolution from Monash University. He is a member of The Research Society.
